Chapter volunteer:

General Description:

VCU's New York City (NYC) Chapter is looking for more alumni to get involved with the chapter. What brings out your passion for VCU? Is it basketball? The arts? Career networking? Are you great with social media? Do you enjoy planning events? Whatever you're passionate about, we'd love to have you join us!

What is the NYC Chapter?

VCU's NYC Chapter is open to all VCU alumni in NYC and the surrounding community. The chapter holds regular events like watch parties, networking opportunities, community service, and just good ole fun!

Do I have to be a member?

You already are! All VCU graduates can participate in the chapter and there are no annual dues! Friends and family members are also encouraged to enjoy chapter events.

Example of ways volunteers can help the chapter:

  • Organize and execute events in the area.
  • Engage alumni on social media by posting to the NYC Alumni Chapter Facebook page (uploading photos, creating reels and events, etc.)
  • Spread the word to other alumni and friends about upcoming events and initiatives.
  • Hold regular meetings with other chapter committee members to strategically plan throughout the year.
  • Be a VCU Spokesperson: Representing VCU and our mission to alumni in the area.
  • Identify local alumni: Identify area alumni to be cultivated as alumni volunteers and event attendees.
  • Serve as volunteer contact person for alumni who are receiving special publicity through local media and notify VCU.
  • Identify your areas of strength to serve or lead a subcommittee.
  • Serve as a conduit of information updates for lost and/or moving alumni.

Why should I volunteer?

By volunteering with the chapter you're helping to build engagement and an alumni community in the area. The more volunteers, the more opportunities to stay involved with your alma mater. Also, volunteers can earn exclusive VCU gear and experiences just by helping out!
